CREPES SUZETTE... BEEF WELLINGTON... PEACH MELBA... EGGS BENEDICT... THE LIST OF DISHES CREATED AND NAMED IN HONOUR OF GREAT PEOPLE IS RATHER EXTENSIVE.
Although we believe there’s room for one more.
Surely we could squeeze Lorraine Kelly in. Come on; she’s only a wee addition.
Who wouldn’t want to pay homage to her sunny and kindly disposition? It’s not as if we’ve have to go to the trouble of creating a new dish; we could just tweak the tasty buffet bastion, Quiche Lorraine, slightly — perhaps add a few tomatoes or mushrooms, so that it perfectly emulates her breakfast time slot.
We believe honouring great people with a delicious dish is such a lovely form of flattery. However, we make sure we pay tribute to the passion and commitment of our conscientious team members in other ways.
Take Gemma Evans, one of our most successful chefs. Driven. Determined. And a true inspiration to her team. We’ve rewarded Gemma’s dedication to our values by giving her extra responsibility.
She’s already proved her cooking skills by bringing gold home for Britain at The World Culinary Olympics in 2012. Now her challenge is to steer the team and the menu, while helping us improve our ways of working.
Besides, the only person worthy of creating a bold yet beautifully balanced dish that truly reflects Gemma’s fine attributes would be Gemma herself. Maybe she could create a hearty Thank Evans for Gemma Pie (sorry Gemma, it had to be said).
