Start off right. Why breakfast could be the best thing that happens to you today.

Writer Robert A. Heinlein summed it up pretty well when he said: “One should not attend even the end of the world without a good breakfast.”

Heinlein’s taken it to the extreme here, but the sentiment is spot-on: breakfast is important, no matter what you’re doing that day. It has a significant, positive impact on focus and productivity, as well as general health and wellbeing.

Not to mention the fact that breakfast is the realm of some of the most delicious foods around: pancakes, bacon sandwiches, omelettes, fresh fruit and yoghurt… we could go on.

Is it really that good for you?

The short answer is, yes. It keeps us healthier and makes us more productive.

Despite this, more and more of us are skipping breakfast. Long commutes to work, an increase in overtime hours and the demands of flexible working are just some of the things which see us reaching for a swig of coffee instead of a cereal bowl in the morning.

It might be quicker, but it’s the recipe for an unhealthy workforce.

It’s true. Even though many people don’t have time to eat before work, we enjoy going out for breakfast wherever possible. In fact, UK adults now eat out for breakfast as often as they do for dinner each month.

We enjoy more variety in the morning now too, with juices, health foods and cooked breakfast all on the rise. Plus, people find eating out for breakfast a great opportunity to socialise and relax.

Because breakfast is so good for us in so many ways, it’s important you encourage your people to make a habit of it.

Setting you up for the day
