Fairtrade Fortnight: shining a light on responsible trade

Eurest | Corporate Responsibility |  19 February 2015

We’re committed to trading responsibly. That includes working with trusted supplier partners, making good food choices easier with our Know Your Food programme, taking care over waste management and energy efficiency — and producing our own EATFAIR Fairtrade range of treats.

Fairtrade is a global movement, which supports small-scale farmers and producers. It gives them the power to compete for better prices, achieve decent working conditions and work on fair terms of trade for farmers and workers

Trading responsibly is close to the heart of everything we do at Eurest. We know that Fairtrade is important to you and that’s why we push to expand its reach and help take the movement further.

Fairtrade has grown consistently in the last six years and we source a great range of Fairtrade products. More generally, globally just over one percent of cocoa and less then ten per cent of tea is trade on Fairtrade terms is there is still a long way to go.

Fairtrade Fortnight, running between 23 February and 8 March 2015, showcases the positive impact that Fairtrade has in supporting marginalised producers all around the world. The event is a valuable chance to raise Fairtrade’s profile, broadcasting its message to new shores and demonstrating to customers in the UK exactly why they should choose to buy Fairtrade goods.

Make sure you’re part of the journey towards fairer, more sustainable trade for farmers and producers by choosing something from our EATFAIR range. For every EATFAIR product purchased, 5p will go to our EATFAIR projects in Uganda. So, while you enjoy one of our tasty treats, you’ll know you’re doing good around the world too.

Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting news about Fairtrade Fortnight. You can also head over to the website to find out how responsible trading changes lives and to see how you can get involved.
